No changes to commercial waste collections over Christmas 2019

Operating every day over the holiday period

Whilst many businesses close for Christmas and New Year, we are well aware that a large number of our customers operate every day of the year. Just like us.

Where other collectors stop or reduce their services over the Christmas period, the City Council’s commercial waste and recycling collections for businesses will operate as normal through this period, including Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Office parties, events or clearing-out?

Is your business hosting Christmas events or office parties that generate more waste and recycling than usual? Are you having a tidy-up over the holiday period? Or are you simply a lot busier due to extra trade?

If you are in need of more waste or recycling bags; the quickest most convenient way of ordering commercial waste bags is online.

Christmas trees

Need to get rid of the Christmas tree from your business? Don’t pay more for its collection than what the tree cost you in the first place. You can drop off your tree for free at one of our Christmas tree collection sites provided all decorations have been taken off. If the tree is under 2 meters or if its a plastic tree you can also present it for your regular waste collection with one of the yellow (‘cardboard’) stickers attached. These stickers are simply ordered online. Decorations etc. are not a problem in this case. Very large trees over 2 meters can be collected via a bulky waste collection at a discounted rate.

Any other questions about collections over Christmas?

We can also arrange for extra collections for your waste or recycling container (bin) if needed, even at short notice. If you need to arrange any additional waste and recycling bin collections during the December period then please contact us via the usual Customer Services phone number: 020 7641 6180.
