AOK Kitchen was seeking a local, knowledgeable and sustainable waste collector it could trust. We were able to satisfy all of these requirements and to provide a reliable, flexible service. We handle the management of their waste and recycling and assist in the implementation of sustainable best practices. We started by conducting an in-depth waste audit. This process looks to identify a business’ most common waste streams and to find the best ways to capture and recycle them. It helped AOK Kitchen learn if there were additional recycling possibilities.
The restaurant introduced a number of different waste and recycling streams. In addition, we provided the necessary staff training for putting best practices into place and helped AOK Kitchen implement efficient waste storage (since space is at such a premium in Westminster).
What were the waste management wins for AOK Kitchen?
Supporting AOK Kitchen achieved some impressive results. Almost half of its waste is now recycled or composted. The other half is sent for energy recovery, helping to generate low carbon heat for local homes.
By choosing the City Council’s Commercial Waste Services, AOK Kitchen is also aligned to the goal of Westminster becoming carbon neutral by 2030. Commercial Waste Services have invested in and are constantly expanding our industry-leading fleet of electric refuse collection trucks, as well as trialling other alternative fuels. By choosing our services, AOK Kitchen is also avoiding unnecessary duplicate collections by private waste collectors, which helps to protect the environment.
