A royal cleanup

As London once again hosted another royal event, Veolia, in partnership with Westminster City Council, worked tirelessly over The Coronation weekend to ensure the city was clean, and the streets were ready for the first coronation in 70 years.

Two million people gathered to see The King at His Coronation on Saturday. 100 operatives and 30 vehicles, many of which are electric and zero emission, worked around the clock to ensure that The City was fit for the coronation. The 100 operatives split into eight teams who ensured the streets were spotless before, during and after the event. All of the recycling collected from the public and businesses was taken to the Southwark recycling facility, and general waste was taken to SELCHP, our waste incineration plant used to recover energy from non-recyclable waste, transforming it into a resource to heat and power local homes.

We wanted to take this opportunity to thank all the businesses in the surrounding area for contributing and complying with the temporary regulations of the coronation weekend.
