Through our commitment to responsible business, we’d like to tell you about Heart of the City and how they support small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in London to do well by doing good. Their two-year foundation programme of events, online resources and mentoring coaches business leaders to learn how to develop and implement a responsible business strategy, making sure their company has a positive impact on people, places and the planet.
Over the past 20 years more than 850 SMEs have completed the Heart of the City programme, taking their first steps to making responsible business a meaningful part of their work. Last year, their members felt they’d improved their responsible business knowledge from 4/10 to 8/10.
Introducing responsible business programmes have changed these companies for the better. Their activities have helped them recruit and keep the best people in their teams and to win new business. They’ve worked with people in their local communities to improve social mobility and tackle specific issues and they’ve introduced clear, practical policies to make sure they’re doing the best for the planet. They’ve supported their employees’ wellbeing and mental health, and they’ve offered them opportunities to give back in a way that uses their skills to benefit others. And they’ve done it all after sharing ideas, challenges and experiences with each other as part of the Heart of the City community.
Heart of the City has funding from City Bridge Trust and the City of London Corporation to offer year one at no cost to eligible businesses.
