Learn more about London’s air quality in the Heart of London Business Alliance Clean Air Workshop
Recently, there has been a number of positive developments towards improving the air quality in London. Current pollution levels in London are worryingly high, and there is a real consensus that action needs to take place to improve air quality.
The Heart of London Business Alliance, who serve as a voice for 500 businesses and 100 property owners in the Piccadilly & St James’s and Leicester Square areas, are playing their part by hosting a clean air breakfast event for businesses in the West End.
Here are the details of the event:
Date: Tuesday 13 February
Times: 8:30am – 9:30am (This hour is for Heart of London members only) 9:30am – 10:30am (This hour is open to anybody)
Location: Virgin Money Lounge, Haymarket, SW1Y 4EX
Breakfast and refreshments will be available throughout the workshop.
The event is an opportunity for businesses to understand the services Heart of London has organised on your behalf, which could have a positive impact on the local environment. These services include a preferred waste collector scheme and that, of course, explains our attendance at the event.
Westminster City Council Commercial Waste Services was recently chosen to become one of the preferred waste and recycling collectors for Heart of London. After assessing numerous waste collectors, Heart of London concluded that our quality and transparency of waste management services was far greater than that of other waste collectors they had evaluated and so selected us as their partner. As such, we are looking forward to manning a stall at the event and answering any questions.
Why should you attend the workshop?
The event aims to provide businesses with a better understanding of how Heart of London’s partners can help cut costs and improve the sustainability of business operations. The breakfast event will feature a marketplace of stalls including partners of Heart of London. Partners include:
- Anglo – Who provide environmentally friendly office supplies and services. Anglo has a fleet of electric vehicles, resulting in deliveries that are 100% emission free
- Cross River Partnership – Who currently deliver a range of regeneration programmes in the central London sub-region.
- Westminster City Council Commercial Waste Services – We are at the event to promote our sustainable waste management services with unrivalled environmental credentials. Our fleet of hybrid waste collection vehicles provides you with a clean air alternative to waste collections in Westminster.
The stalls give you an opportunity to talk to the representatives of these businesses about how their services help to improve air quality in the West End. It is also an opportunity to speak to others who have experience with Heart of London’s suppliers.
Become a member of Heart of London to receive discounted, sustainable waste management services
Members of the Heart of London Business Alliance will be entitled to discounted waste collections, from our already cost-effective services. Since we are a local authority we do not charge any VAT for our services, this means we can be up to 20% cheaper than other private waste operators; this is even before the Heart of London discount is added. Adem and Tom from Westminster City Council Commercial Waste Services will be on hand at the clean air breakfast to talk more about our services in partnership with the Heart of London Business Alliance.

If you can’t make the workshop, if you are not based in the area that Heart of London Business Alliance covers or you just want to get started with sustainable waste management services straight away, we would suggest that the first step would be to book a waste audit.
