How to dispose of knives
Are often taken back by their suppliers. Used knives and cutlery should never be disposed of loose in rubbish or recycling bags due to the risk that they pose to collection staff and the general public.
Used knives, cutlery and other sharp items like broken crockery, mirrors and drinking glasses must be wrapped and taped in plastic, paper or bubble wrap and placed in a sealed and secure rigid cardboard box or plastic container marked with ‘SHARP ITEMS’.
Please attach a cardboard sticker to the box/container and present for the general waste collection.
Small knives like Stanley and hobby knives can often be rendered harmless by using a blade disposal case before throwing them in the general waste.
