How to dispose of polystyrene foam

Polystyrene or polyurethane foam should be disposed of in your general waste unless otherwise stated. 

Polystyrene foam, which is often used for protective packaging, insulation, and takeaway containers, and polyurethane foam, which is commonly found in furniture cushions, mattresses, and some packaging applications.

Best practice: Break down or compress large pieces of foam to reduce volume before disposal. This helps maximise bin space and reduces collection frequency.
