April 2026 Waste management basics webinar featuring Imperial College London: Your questions answered

Commercial Waste Services Westminster
Commercial Waste Services Westminster

We recently hosted an insightful webinar in partnership with Imperial College, bringing together industry expertise to explore effective waste management strategies. Emmanuel Pouchoux, Veolia Portfolio Manager, and Florence Hale, Imperial College's Waste & Recycling Manager, guided attendees through foundational best practices and actionable steps for advancing organisational sustainability.

The session generated valuable discussion, with participants raising practical questions spanning reporting mechanisms, collection schedules, waste audits, recycling services, and available business support. To ensure all our customers can benefit from the insights shared, we've compiled comprehensive answers to the most frequently asked questions below. For those unable to attend or wishing to revisit the content, the complete webinar recording is available below.

How can I request another waste audit?

Yes. We appreciate that operational practices can sometimes differ between initial waste audits and day-to-day collection requirements.

If you feel there is a mismatch between the advice provided during your audit and the expectations from collection crews, our team can arrange a follow-up review to better understand the issue and provide clarification or updated guidance where needed.

Are communal waste drop points available for businesses on busy high streets such as Baker Street?

At present, most commercial areas in Westminster are not suitable for communal commercial waste collection points.

In addition, legislation requires each business to have its own commercial waste arrangements in place. This ensures accountability, compliance, and effective waste management across the city.

Why don’t you collect batteries?

We do collect batteries.

To arrange a battery collection, please contact our team on 020 7641 6180 to book the service.

Is it possible to add foot pedals to food waste caddies?

This is something we are exploring with our suppliers.

Our operational teams are currently reviewing potential options with Container Maintenance to understand whether foot pedal food caddies could be introduced in future.

Do you offer training for existing customers with multiple sites?

Yes, we do.

Our team can provide support and training for existing customers operating across multiple locations to help improve waste segregation, recycling performance, and service understanding.

How can we measure KPIs for the waste collection service we receive?

We would need a little more information about the type of KPIs you are looking to measure in order to provide the right support.

Our team can work with customers to better understand reporting requirements and help identify suitable performance measures for waste and recycling services.

Can you help with internal waste segregation within our organisation?

Absolutely.

We regularly support organisations looking to improve internal waste segregation and recycling processes. Whether you are starting from scratch or refining an existing system, our Commercial Waste Services team can help identify opportunities for improvement and provide tailored advice.

Do you offer the same services for smaller offices?

Yes.

We work with businesses of all sizes across Westminster, including smaller offices and independent businesses. Our team can help identify suitable waste and recycling solutions based on your operational needs and available space.

Do you offer paint disposal services?

Yes, we can help with paint disposal requirements.

This would typically be managed through specialist hazardous waste services, and our team can advise on the most appropriate solution depending on the type and quantity of waste involved.
